Postdoc position available at MACF
A post doctoral position focused on deep sequencing techniques, partly responsible for establishing of such technology at our microarray facility, and partly a scientific position using such technologies within our research projects, is available, with an application deadline of August 15th 2009.

RR Affymetrix facility moves to MACF
A  committe appointed by the Laboratory Clinic has recommended to move the Affymetrix equipment from Gaustad to MACF, and this was recently endorsed by the Lab Clinic "Stabsmøte". This will greatly facilitate Affymetrix services at MACF. Contact ana<at>microarray.no (2293 4413) for information.

SNP-analysis
SNP analysis will be available from an informal core facility organised by Prof Eivind Hovig in collaboration with the MACF. Both Illumina (Infinium and Golden Gate) and Affymetrix technology will be available. Contact Eivind for further information.

Illumina equipment installed at MACF
The new equipment for Illumina microarrays is being installed week 46, and the full service should be available locally from week 48. Contact Thea<at>microarray for information (2293 4413)

Renewed contract as FUGE platform
The MACF has been allotted a 10 Mkr grant to continue as the Oslo node of the national FUGE Microarray Platform. The other partners of the Norwegian Microarray Consortium received similar grants, making this platform the best funded one in the second FUGE period.

Funding for Illumina technology
The MACF has received funding for Illumina equipment, including Golden Gate technology, and is, together with Eivind Hovig and the Bioinformatics core facility, working on funding for complete HTP SNP analysis, that we hope to be able to offer this fall.

Illumina test service
We have set up a test service using Illumina expression arrays in collaboration with the ServiceXS core facility in Leiden. We do the labelling in Oslo, and the hybridisation and scanning in Leiden. Contact thea@microarray.no for details. We anticipate to be able to provide full in-house facilities next year.

FUGE Newsletter focus on NMC Leadership as natoional model

The recent issue of the newsletter for the FUGE program had a focus article on how to achieve a national perspective for the technology platforms.
The Microarray platform (NMC) is seen as a model for how to achieve this, and in this interview with Vidar Steen and Ola Myklebost, the focus is on our model, and how it may be applied more generally.

Application for funds from RR/UiO-FFU
The RR/UiO Research Board (FFU) has announced core facility grants for 2007, and if you have suggestions to the MACF on new equipment, resources or service functions we should apply for funding to, please contact the AMCF head, ola.myklebost<at>rr-research.no.
