Confirmed keynote speakers

Anton Nekrutenko earned his doctoral degree in biology at Texas Tech University in 1999, and was a postdoctoral research associate and instructor in the department of ecology and evolution at the University of Chicago from 1999 to 2003. Today he is an associate professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Penn State, heading a group focusing on evolutionary dynamics of overlapping coding regions, and working on the very popular Galaxy project.

Bengt Persson is a professor of bioinformatics at Linköping University and Karolinska Institutet. He is the director of the national supercomputer centre in Linköping. Persson utilizes genome-wide sequence comparisons, machine-learning techniques, and molecular modelling applied to biomedical problems throughout his research. He is heading the swedish part of the Elixir initiative, which will be the focus of his talk at the NBF.
