About the core facility
At the Bioinformatics Core Facility we provide a set of fairly standardized bioinformatics analysis services for the users. Users are here defined as both OUS personnel and UiO personnel. External users are also welcome to make contact. Some larger projects may require user fees depending on prior agreement. Based on a basic input like a given gene sequence, a set of microarray data or next-generation sequencing data, analysis will be carried out and a brief report will be provided. More advanced services will be developed according to user needs. In addition, more general consulting services will be provided, as far as resources last. The Bioinformatics Core Facility collaborates closely with the Microarray Core Facility and the Structural Biology Core Facility and other technology platforms where bioinformatics forms an important part. FundingThe core facility is funded by grants from OUS and UiO (EMBIO), FUGE, as well as potential user fees. UsersThe services are primarily intended to serve users at Oslo University Hospital (OUS) in order to strengthen research and diagnostics at the hospital. The services are also offered to users at the University of Oslo (UiO). Based on prior agreements, external users are also welcome. FeesSimple services will be offered free of charge to users at OUS and
UiO. Certain resource demanding projects may require user fees or
forms of collaborative research, depending on prior agreement. Any
user fees will be based on a non-profit model. Collaborating partnersThe facility collaborates with:
LocationThe facility functions as a virtual centre located partly at Montebello, colocated with the DNR bioinformatics group headed by Eivind Hovig, and at Gaustad, colocated with the CMBN Bioinformatics Group (headed by Torbjørn Rognes) and the IFI Bioinformatics Group. |
